Former Bangladesh cricket captain, Shakib Al Hasan, has been named among the accused in a murder case linked with the killing of a garment factory worker, Hindustan Times reported.

According to the police officials, Hasan has been accused of being one of the masterminds behind the killing of garment factory worker Mohammed Rubel. 

Hundreds of individuals have been named in the complaint lodged at Adabar police station in the national capital by Rubel's father, Rafiqul Islam, on Thursday (August 22).

Cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina, former ministers, MPs, and Awami League activists at police stations across the country.

The 37-year-old star all-rounder of the Bangladesh cricket team, had previously served as a lawmaker under Sheikh Hasina's Awami League government. 

Nazrul Islam, the inspector in charge of investigations at Adabar police station, confirmed to HT that a case has been filed against Shakib Al Hasan.

Mohammed Rubel was shot during clashes that erupted amid the protests on August 5 and later died while receiving treatment on August 7. The case names Sheikh Hasina, former Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader, and 156 other individuals as accused, with an additional 400 unidentified individuals also listed.
