Mahila Congress National President Alka Lamba announced that her party will provide free sanitary pads to women in rural areas.

Speaking at a press conference, Lamba highlighted the challenges many rural women face in accessing sanitary pads, Deccan Herald reported.

“According to a survey we did, rural women still find it difficult to buy sanitary pads. So, all Mahila Congress members will be given sanitary pad-making units. This will empower them financially. The pads will then be provided free of cost to women in villages,” Lamba said.

She also shared that the Mahila Congress has seen rapid growth, enrolling 2.5 lakh new members within a month.

“Telangana has had 50,000 enrolments followed by 30,000 in Karnataka,” she stated.

She further added that the Mahila Congress aims to reach a target of 10 lakh members across the country, expanding its reach and impact at the grassroots level.
