In a shocking incident in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, a Dalit woman and her daughter were brutally attacked and dragged on the road by two men following a minor altercation involving a dog, police reported on Friday (January 3).

The assault, which occurred in Ambah area, was captured on a video and went viral on social media, drawing widespread outrage.

According to Ambah police station in-charge, Satendra Singh Kushwaha, Anita Mahor suffered severe injuries after being beaten with sticks and dragged along the road.

"Anita Mahor has sustained serious injuries after being hit by sticks and then dragged on the road. Her daughter Bharti is also injured. We have arrested Rajesh Tomar and Kumher Singh Tomar for assaulting them," Kushwaha told news agency PTI.

"Anita Mahor's son Deepak has told us that his younger brother Santosh was going to throw waste this morning when he was startled by the presence of a dog. He threw the waste, which also included dung, on the dog in fright and fled. This infuriated the two accused," he added.

Armed with a chopper and sticks, the accused and their accomplices forcibly entered the Mahor family’s home and attacked Anita and her family members, Kushwaha informed.

Investigations are ongoing, and the incident has sparked calls for strict action against the perpetrators while highlighting the need for protection of marginalized communities from such heinous acts.
