27 Killed in Stampede at Religious Event in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras

At least 27 people, including mostly women and children, were killed in a major stampede during a religious event in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district on Tuesday (June), the officials said, reported NDTV.

It is learnt that a religious event for Lord Shiva was held in Ratibhanpur. At the conclusion of the event, a stampede started, which led to many people getting injured, including women and children. 

The injured were rush to Etah Medical College, where they are receiving treatment.

Visuals from a Community Health Centre showed several bodies being brought there in the presence of crying relatives.

Chief Medical Officer, Etah, Dr Umesh Kumar Tripathi told NDTV, “We have received 27 bodies, of which 25 are female and two are male. Some injured have also been taken to hospitals. We have heard that there was a stampede during a ''satsang' but don't have too many more details."
