BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, known for his outspoken views in the Lok Sabha, has once again stirred controversy—this time by criticizing the Supreme Court of India.
In his remarks to ANI, Dubey suggested that if the apex court continues to play a central role in governance, the role of legislatures becomes redundant.
“Supreme Court is responsible for inciting religious wars in the country. The Supreme Court is going beyond its limits. If one has to go to the Supreme Court for everything, then Parliament and State Assembly should be shut...” he said.
“How can you give direction to the appointing authority? The President appoints the Chief Justice of India. The Parliament makes the law of this country. You will dictate that Parliament?... How did you make a new law? In which law is it written that the President has to take a decision within three months? This means that you want to take this country towards anarchy,” Dubey added.
Following the backlash, BJP distanced itself from Dubey’s remarks, with party president J.P. Nadda stating that the comments made by MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma were their personal opinions and not those of the party.
This is far from the first time Dubey has found himself in hot water. Over the years, he has made a series of controversial remarks. Here’s a look at some of them:

March 24, 2025 – Criticism of Supreme Court’s Jurisdiction
Dubey accused the judiciary of overreach, saying the Supreme Court interferes in areas beyond its domain, such as cryptocurrency and online gaming:
“When Shaktikanta Das was the RBI governor, he repeatedly stated that cryptocurrency is not a legal tender. However, in India, even the Supreme Court tends to intervene in matters where it shouldn't. As a result, cryptocurrency exchanges continue to operate, and transactions keep happening.”
