The new AKG Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, set to serve as the Kerala state headquarters of the CPI(M), will be inaugurated on April 23 by Chief Minister and party stalwart Pinarayi Vijayan.

Announcing the inauguration at a press conference, CPI(M) state secretary M.V. Govindan said the newly constructed building, located almost opposite the existing AKG Study Centre, comprises nine floors along with two basement levels for parking, PTI reported.

"Renowned architect N Mahesh designed this new building, and it has been constructed after obtaining all necessary building permits," Govindan was quoted by PTI as saying.

He confirmed that all operations of the party’s state committee would soon shift to the new facility.

While the total construction cost will only be determined after the final completion and accounting, Govindan emphasized transparency.

"There will be no secrecy; everyone is welcome to visit and see it for themselves," he added.

Meanwhile, the current AKG Centre, which has functioned as the party’s state headquarters for decades, will continue to be open to research scholars and will retain its extensive library.
