Actor-turned-politician and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on social media on Monday (August 12) for his support of the recent Hindenburg investigation, which alleges the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chief's involvement in a major financial scandal.
Ranaut, the sitting MP from Mandi, accused Gandhi of attempting to undermine India's security and economy. In a post on X, Ranaut charged Gandhi with “trying everything to destabilize the nation” and its economic stability.
“Rahul Gandhi is the most dangerous man, he is bitter, poisonous and destructive, his agenda is that if he can't be the Prime Minister then he might as well destroy this nation,” she wrote.
“Hindenberg report targeting our stock market that Rahul Gandhi was endorsing last night has turned out to be a damp squib. He is trying everything to destabilize this nation its security and economy,” she added.
The BJP leader also advised Gandhi to “get ready to sit in the opposition” for the rest of his life.
“Mr Gandhi get ready to sit in the opposition all your life and the way you suffering get ready to suffer the glory, the growth and the nationalism of the people of this nation. They will never make you their leader. You are a disgrace,” she wrote.
On Sunday, Gandhi issued a statement through a video post on X, about the integrity of India's stock market in light of the latest allegations from US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research. He voiced serious concerns over a potential conflict of interest involving the SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and questioned why Buch had not yet resigned. Gandhi called on the government to provide an explanation.
Hindenburg Research in its latest report has alleged that Buch, the chief of the SEBI, and her husband held stakes in both the obscure offshore funds used in the Adani money siphoning scandal. These accusations are based on "whistleblower documents" revealing their involvement.

The integrity of SEBI, the securities regulator entrusted with safeguarding the wealth of small retail investors, has been gravely compromised by the allegations against its Chairperson.
