Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra came strongly against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "mujra" remark at a rally in Bihar today, stating that the Prime Minister must maintain the decorum of his post. Modi's comment, aimed at accusing the Opposition of vote bank politics, was also widely condemned by other leaders of the INDIA alliance.
Sharing a video of her speech at an election rally on X, Priyanka Gandhi wrote in Hindi, “In his speech, the Prime Minister used such words for the opposition leaders which no Prime Minister in history has used. Is it not his responsibility to maintain the dignity of his post?”
Reacting sharply to the prime minister's remarks, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera shared a video of his on X and wrote in Hindi, “Today, I heard the word 'Mujra' from the mouth of the Prime Minister. Modiji, what is this state of mind? Why don’t you take something? Amit Shah and JP Nadda ji should get him treated immediately. Perhaps delivering speeches under the Sun has had too much of an effect on his brain.”
RJD leader Manoj Jha told news agency PTI, “I am not worried about what he (PM Modi) is saying. I am worried about him now. Till yesterday, we disagreed with him, now we are worried about him. I had said recently that he is becoming a victim of delusion of grandeur. 'Machli', mutton, mangalsutra and 'mujra'... is this the language of a PM?” PTI quoted Manoj Jha as saying.
Priyanka Chaturvedi of the Shiv Sena (UBT), in an X post wrote “Get well soon, Modi ji,” while sharing the video clip of the PM's speech.
Earlier today, addressing a rally in Bihar, the Prime Minister said that the INDIA bloc can perform "mujra" (dance performance widely associated with courtesans) before their vote bank if they want, but he will not let them snatch away the reservation benefits accorded to the SC/ST/OBC communities by the Constitution of India
