As the Lok Sabha election concluded successfully on 1st June 2024, the nation is waiting for the counting results to come out.

The latest trend of the 18th Lok Sabha election results released by the Election Commission of India, through its website, shows the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 243 seats, the Congress in 94, Samajwadi Party in 36, Trinamool Congress in 31, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in 21 and Telugu Desam Party in 16.

This is as of 1:15 pm. In terms of alliances, the BJP’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in 292 seats, and the opposition INDIA bloc in 193.

The Hindi heartland states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan along with Maharashtra appear to be the states where the BJP have rocked giving a direct gain to INDIA bloc. In Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, the BJP continues its dominance.

The highlight of the latest trend results is from Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP have faced huge blow. As the latest figures come in, the BJP is leading 33 seats in Uttar Pradesh, down by 31 seats compared to 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

These trends suggest that while the NDA is going to form its third consecutive government at the centre, but it’s lead party, the BJP will not get majority of its own.

The results so far are clearly different from the exit polls figures released a couple days back.
