The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has announced that a six-member delegation, led by general secretary M.A. Baby, is currently on a week-long visit to China at the invitation of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The delegation departed for Beijing late on Monday (September 22) night and will remain in China until September 30, 2025.
In its statement on Tuesday, the CPI(M) said, "The visit of the CPI(M) delegation is part of the party-to-party exchanges between the CPI(M) and the CPC. The delegation will hold discussions with the leadership of the CPC during its visit."
The delegation includes Polit Bureau members Mohd Salim, Jitendra Chaudhury, R. Arun Kumar, and Central Committee members K. Hemalata and C.S. Sujatha.
The trip comes at a time when India and China are working to improve bilateral relations following recent border tensions.
In December 2024, the two countries held the 23rd round of Special Representatives’ talks in Beijing, with National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval leading the Indian side and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi representing Beijing.
