Noida police on Monday, April 7, arrested the owner of a restaurant in Sector 2 after a woman accused the eatery of sending her non-vegetarian biryani instead of the vegetarian version she had ordered via a food delivery app.
The incident triggered outrage after the woman posted a video on social media, claiming that the restaurant, Lucknowi Kabab Paratha, had delivered chicken biryani during Navratri despite her specific vegetarian order, The Indian Express reported.
In the viral video, the woman said, “I also had one or two bites from it. I am a pure vegetarian and in Navratri, they have sent non-vegetarian biryani. They have done it knowingly.”
Following the post, Noida police initiated an investigation and summoned staff from the restaurant for questioning.
“Acting on the basis of the complaint of the woman, the police registered an FIR and arrested Rahul Rajvanshi, a resident of Ecovillage-1 of Central Noida’s Bisrakh. A sample of the food has been sent to the food security officer for further investigation,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Shakti Mohan Avasthy.
A sample of the delivered food has been sent to the food security officer for examination as part of the ongoing investigation, the police said.
