A mob consisting of a group of villagers wearing saffron-coloured religious attire and chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' vandalised a missionary congregation in Telangana’s Mancherial district and manhandled the institution's staff on Tuesday (April 16). The incident of violence happened after the principal of the school, Jaimon Joseph, questioned some students wearing religious attire to campus, a report in NDTV reveals.
The incident took place at St Mother Teresa English Medium School, Luxettipet, in Kannepalli village in the north Telangana district.
The miscreants gheraoed the principal, beat him up and forcibly applied tilak on his forehead. The mod also demanded an apology from the school for hurting Hindu sentiments.

Police registered a case against two school staff, including the principal, under sections related to hurting religious sentiments and spreading enmity between different groups on the basis of religion based on the complaints made by parents of the students.
Two days before the incident, some students came to the school wearing saffron attire instead of regular inform. The principal subsequently enquired the students about their attire. The students replied they were observing Hanuman Deeksha, a 21-day ritual.
The principal then asked them to bring their parents to school and informed that their parents had to seek prior permission if the students wanted to come to school without wearing uniforms.
