The allocation of ministerial portfolios in Bihar’s newly formed NDA government has been finalised, with Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary set to take charge of the crucial Home Ministry.

Reports confirmed that the full list of responsibilities assigned to all 26 ministers has been forwarded to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha has been entrusted with the Mines and Geology Department, while Ramkripal Yadav will oversee the Agriculture Ministry. With the BJP emerging as the dominant partner in the ruling coalition, the party has obtained several major departments, including Home, health, road construction, and agriculture.

The announcement comes a day after Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Chief Minister for a record tenth term. Ministers from the BJP, JD(U), RLJP, and HAM were also administered the oath of office during the ceremony. In the cabinet composition, the BJP secured 14 berths, JD(U) nine, LJP (Ram Vilas) two, while HAM and RLM received one berth each.

The new government formation follows the NDA’s decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

The alliance secured 202 seats in the 243-member House. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, followed closely by the JD(U) with 85. The LJP(RV) won 19 seats, while the HAM(S) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha secured five and four seats respectively.
