Amid heightened diplomatic tensions following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, 27 Pakistani nationals stranded at the Attari-Wagah border were allowed to cross into Pakistan via the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Amritsar on Friday (May 2).

These individuals had been camping outside the ICP since the Indian government revoked their visas and ordered all Pakistani nationals to leave the country by April 30.

The visa cancellations were part of a broader crackdown after the Pahalgam attack, with all categories of visas issued to Pakistani citizens nullified.

On Thursday, around 80 Pakistani nationals were reportedly stranded at Attari after the deadline lapsed. While 27 managed to return home on Friday, another 50 remained in queues awaiting clearance from Indian customs and immigration authorities.

No Indian nationals crossed over into India from Pakistan that day.

In response to the developments, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed it would continue facilitating the return of its stranded citizens through the Wagah border.
