Wife of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Jaheer Salmani was shot dead in UP’s Hapur on Saturday. Salmani's wife, Nazreen, sustained three gunshot wounds, two to the head and one to the chest. Nazreen was the second wife of Salmani. She was 38.
The police officials informed that Nazreen was rushed to Devnandini Hospital in Hapur in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The body of the deceased woman has been taken into custody for post-mortem examination.
Nazreen was living in Samiya Garden on Bulandshahr Road. She was alone at her home when an assailant entered the house and started firing indiscriminately at her. Three bullets hit Nazreen during the firing.
Hapur Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Verma, along with a team of police officers and forensic experts, arrived at the residence of the SP leader to initiate investigations.
The police reports suggest that SP leader Salmani was away in Meerut for property dealings and was unaware of the events transpiring at his home. It was only when he returned home, he found out that his wife was murdered.
The police and forensic team are working in tandem and have gathered evidence from the room in the house, where the crime happened.
SP Verma assured that the police are diligently working to track down the suspects involved in the crime. Efforts to apprehend the assailants are underway, he said.
