The elder brother of sex crimes accused Prajwal Revanna and Janata Dal-Secular JD(S) leader, Suraj Revanna has been arrested allegedly for sexually assaulting a male party worker on Sunday (June 23).
Based on a complaint registered by the 27-year-old party worker, a case was filed against Suraj Revanna by the Holenarasipura police, under IPC sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) late on Saturday evening, news agency PTI reported.
Revanna is accused of sexually assaulting the party worker at a farm house in Karnataka's Hassan district on June 16.
However, Suraj Revanna, the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, has refuted the charge.
Suraj had alleged that the man had filed a false complaint against him in a bid to extort Rs 5 crore from him.
A person named Shivakumar, a close aide of Suraj Revanna, had filed an extortion case against the alleged victim. Shivakumar had alleged that the man demanded Rs 5 crore first and later on settled for Rs 2 crore, The Indian Express reported.
Suraj's brother and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna is already in police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting several women.
Prajwal Revanna fled to Germany, shortly after sex crimes allegations by women in connection to a string of obscene videos leaked on the internet, allegedly showing the MP assaulting women on camera.
He was arrested by the Karnataka Police immediately after he arrived at the Bengaluru’s airport on May 31.
