Domestic cooking gas has become costlier once again, with the Union government approving a fresh increase in the price of subsidised LPG cylinders amid sustained pressure from high global energy prices and disruptions in international fuel markets.

The price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been raised by Rs 29 with effect from June 7, 2026.

According to news agency PTI, consumers who were earlier paying Rs 913 per cylinder will now have to pay Rs 942.

The latest revision marks the second increase in domestic LPG prices within a span of three months.

Earlier, on March 7, the government had increased the price of household cooking gas by Rs 60 per cylinder following a surge in global energy prices linked to the conflict in West Asia.

Industry sources said the revised rates will push the price of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi to Rs 942 from Rs 913. Similar increases have been implemented across major cities.

While domestic consumers face another rise in cooking fuel expenses, commercial LPG users have been hit by even steeper increases in recent months. Hotels, restaurants and street food vendors, who depend heavily on commercial cylinders, have seen repeated upward revisions in prices.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices were increased by Rs 114.50 on March 1, followed by another hike of Rs 195.50 on April 1.

The sharpest increase came on May 1, when the government raised the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by a record Rs 993. The revision represented an increase of more than 40% compared with April rates. In just three months, the cumulative rise in commercial LPG prices has reached Rs 1,303 per cylinder.

The continued increases reflect the pressure faced by state-owned fuel retailers as international energy costs remain elevated amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions affecting global fuel markets.

Following the latest revision, a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder will cost Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, Rs 994 in Hyderabad, Rs 968 in Kolkata and Rs 944.50 in Bengaluru.

The increase is expected to add to household expenses at a time when consumers are already coping with higher transportation and fuel costs, while businesses dependent on commercial LPG continue to grapple with sharply rising operating expenses.
