On Saturday morning (September 7), violence erupted in Manipur's Jiribam district, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, news agency PTI reported citing police statement.
A man was shot while asleep at his isolated home, located about 5 km from the district headquarters.
Following the incident, a fierce gunfight ensued between armed groups from rival communities in the hills, roughly 7 km from the district headquarters.
The clash resulted in the deaths of four armed individuals, including three militants from the hills, the police officer added.
