At least 10 Palestinians were killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in the town of Tammun, in Tubas governorate, in the northern occupied West Bank, late on Wednesday, January 29.
The massacre was committed eight days after Israel launched its deadly “Iron Wall” operation in the northern city of Jenin, which was expanded to Tulkarm, located 48 kilometers southwest of Jenin on Monday, January 28.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned the attack describing it as a “cowardly assassination” affirming that the ongoing crimes of the occupation in the West Bank “will not break the resistance” nor “intimidate the Palestinian people”.
The victims were identified as Omar Bisharat (28), Abdullah Bani Odeh (22), Mohammed Bani Odeh (36), Ibrahim Bani Odeh (33), Osama Bani Odeh (19), Muntaser Bani Matar (25), Abdul-Rahman Khatib (20), Saleh Bani Matar (19), Suleiman Bisharat (22), and Jihad Bani Matar (18).
On Thursday, January 30, undercover Israeli forces (Mista’arvim) shot Palestinian man Qasim Al-Aklik (42) in the head after they infiltrated Ibn Rushd Street in the northern city of Nablus. Qasim was walking on the street with his family at the time of the attack, during which his daughter Hajar (7) also sustained an injury in the leg. Consequently, Hajar was transported to the Rafidia Governmental Hospital in Nablus, but Qasim’s body was reportedly abducted by the IOF, after he succumbed to his injury.
Eleven days into the start of the large-scale military operation, Israel carried out another massacre in Jenin. Israeli forces killed five young Palestinians, including a child, in separate drone strikes. Several other Palestinians were reported injured in the aerial assaults carried out on February 1.
The victims were identified as Saleh Zakarneh (22), Abd al-Hadi Alawneh (18), Tamam al-Saadi (27), Nour al-Saadi (32), and Ahmad al-Saadi (16). It is worth noting that Abd al-Hadi Alawneh was a former prisoner in Israeli jails, who was freed in the first captives-for-prisoners swap deal that was reached between Hamas and Israel as part of the temporary ceasefire period in November 2023.
Meanwhile, the IOF shot dead Palestinian citizen Wahid Sabbagh (51) during a raid carried out in Tulkarm refugee camp also on February 1.
On Sunday, February 2, an elderly Palestinian man Walid Lahlouh (70) was shot dead by the IOF in Jenin refugee camp. The IOF also blew up 20 homes within a single neighborhood in the Jenin refugee camp on Sunday.
Although the “Iron Wall” operation has been so far focused on the northern part of the West Bank, the south was not excluded from Israel’s systematic murdering of Palestinians.
Mohammed Hdoosh (27), who was a first Sergeant in the Palestinian Customs Police Authority, was shot dead by the IOF on February 2 during a raid on Al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank. Several others were reported injured. According to local sources, Hadoosh was killed, one day after he celebrated his engagement.
